Posted on September 01, 2015 10:00 AM EST

At approximately 2:45 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 31), twin 15-year-old girls were hit with a spray of bullets during a drive-by shooting at Northwest 122nd Street and Tenth Avenue in North Miami, NBC 6 reported.

Ariel footage of the property showed several police cars surrounding the home where the sisters were sleeping before shots broke out.

The twin girls were rushed to Ryder Trauma, according to the police. The girls' sustained non-life threatening injuries and one of the girls was released Monday morning after she being shot in the left leg.

W. Joseph, 15, said that she was sleeping when shots rang out. She didn't realize that she had been shot until she ran into the kitchen and her big sister asked her if she was bleeding.

M. Joseph, W. Joseph's twin sister, was struck six times with bullets and remained at the hospital on Monday. There was a newborn baby in the house, but fortunately he wasn't hurt.

According to NBC 6, this wasn't the first time the house was targeted by gunfire. In July, the house was the target of an earlier drive-by shooting.

W. Joseph said that in the previous drive-by, they shot the house seven times, but she wasn't there that time, she was at her friend's house.

The drive-by is being investigated by the police, who don't believe that the shooters were targeting the sisters.
